The Australian Heart/Lung Transplant Association was founded as The Heart Transplant Club in 1984 by a small group of early transplants at St. Vincent's Hospital in Sydney, Australia. It was an initiative of the late Victor Chang, basically as a support for patients and their families, to discuss transplantation, exchange ideas, and be there for each other.
